Our flagship LifeCon convention and regional summits bring advisors together to learn, connect, and celebrate.
The Life Underwriters Association of the Philippines has championed the life insurance profession since 1984, uplifting standards, advancing competence, and building a community advisors are proud to belong to.
The Life Underwriters Association of the Philippines was established in February 1984 by a handful of individuals from different life insurance companies, in response to a growing need for life underwriters in the Philippines to professionalize and distinguish themselves through training, education, and personal development.
In the year before its founding, efforts to form the association gained momentum through the determination and passion of its notable founders: Mrs. Avelina de Jesus, Mr. Orlando Javier, and Mr. Gonzalo B. Cruz.

As LUAP took its place in the Philippine life insurance landscape, it drew the volunteering spirit of the industry's movers and shakers, among them Ms. Lourdes del Mundo, Mr. Ricardo Avila, Mr. Cesar Reyes, Mr. Gregorio Tongko, Mr. Antonio Ignacio, Ms. Tedia Camarillo, Ms. Purificacion Lozare, and Mr. Raphael Pacquing.
With these like-minded individuals working together, LUAP was formally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in March 1984.
The current LUAP logo was designed by Mr. Fernando “Ding” Acoymo, an enthusiastic volunteer and member, to symbolize the values every life underwriter should embrace.
Its backdrop features the eagle as a symbol of strength, success, and the ambition to soar high. The two eagle heads facing opposite directions represent vigilance and the discernment between right and wrong, while the eagle's eight claws stand for the LUA Code of Ethics that embodies the organizers' shared ideals.
The colors carry meaning too: blue for service and security, gold for productivity and prosperity for all, and white for purity of motives and intentions.

In the era of smartphones, reality shows, and social media, LUAP became part of the highly dynamic landscape of the life insurance industry and society at large.
In 2013, under the presidency of Ms. Arlyn Tan, LUAP hosted the 14th Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress, the second time APLIC was held in Manila, with Ms. Nenette Aseniero as the 14th APLIC Chairman. In 2014, under Ms. Cecilia de Mesa, the industry saw the first Voice of LUAP, a contest showcasing the vocal talents of advisors from different insurance companies. Under Ms. Janette Tan Lee in 2015, LUAP brought new value to members with the Sales Mastery Series (SMS), a platform for best practices shared across the industry. That same year, the Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioners (FChFP) program was first offered to advance continuous education and professionalism among Filipino financial advisors, and LUAP launched its Corporate Social Responsibility program, “LUAP Gives Back.”
The 32nd anniversary of LUAP in 2016 brought its largest membership yet, over 6,000 nationwide, under the leadership of Mr. Emmanuel Paras. To mark the milestone, the membership fee was reduced to make joining attractive and accessible to rookies and seasoned advisors alike.
In 2017, under Ms. Sherry Ong, LUAP released its first short film, “Umaga,” the story of a real-life insurance beneficiary, and hosted the 10th Philippine Life Insurance Congress (PLIC) that same year.
Our flagship LifeCon convention and regional summits bring advisors together to learn, connect, and celebrate.
